Position Summary
The Business Banking Specialist II is a full-time, non-exempt, non-officer position based on site at our Grand Junction Headquarters. This role requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work well with the team. As the next progression within the Retail Sales team, this position acts as a personal banker for the branch’s business customers, supporting their day-to-day account needs and assisting with more advanced banking solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be proficient and able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities of the Business Banking Specialist I. In addition, this position will:
- Consistently provide prompt, courteous, and high-quality customer service.
- Identify customer needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and engage in ongoing problem solving.
- Follow established audit, security, and compliance guidelines while maintaining a solid understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
- Assist in resolving customer service issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive customer and proprietary information.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with both business and consumer customers.
- Serve as the primary representative for opening walk-in business deposit accounts and assisting customers with inquiries regarding bank services.
- Serve as the secondary representative for opening walk-in personal deposit accounts and providing related customer support.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of complex business banking solutions, including but not limited to:
- Direct Deposits
- Business Online Banking
- Mobile Banking
- Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) and installation
- Domestic and International Wire Transfers, including online wires
- ACH services
- Troubleshooting issues and educating customers on the use of business products and services
- Promote non-interest income products, including merchant services, credit cards, and other relevant offerings.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues in person, over the phone, and via email in an efficient, timely, and professional manner.
- Collaborate with Business Bankers to support existing business customers, target prospective clients, and promote appropriate banking products and services, which includes:
- Traveling to customer locations to provide installation of equipment and software, along with training, education, and troubleshooting, in accordance with all Timberline Bank policies.
- Providing product-support expertise by reviewing setup documentation for accuracy, completing system setup for cash-management services, and assisting with training for both customers and Bank employees.
- Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with an assigned Business Banker, serving as their primary Business Banking Specialist contact.
- Attend and actively participate in all required training, including New Accounts, Risk Management, and other assigned programs.
- Meet assigned performance goals (“rocks”) as established by the department supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as skills develop and professional goals are achieved.
Required Knowledge and Expertise
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Colorado Notary.
- Knowledge of banking services and products to offer solutions to meet our customers’ needs.
- Proven people, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Team player with a strong, team-focused attitude.
- Maintain a current knowledge of all regulations, including BSA, along with demonstrating a knowledge and understanding of the Bank’s policies and procedures.
- Continuing education to maintain job knowledge.
- Career progression from BBSI to BBSII is based on demonstrated proficiency in all required skills, as well as the successful completion of applicable testing and/or tenure requirements.
- A minimum of six months in the BBSI role is required for advancement consideration.

Pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules, the salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Incentives based on Timberline Team goals may also be offered.
