Job Title: Business Analyst / Project Manager – Capital Markets & Trading

Overview / Summary
We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong Project Management experience and a background in finance, capital markets, or trading. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, operations, risk, compliance, and external vendors to deliver business process improvements, system enhancements, and trading-related initiatives.

The ideal candidate understands the trade lifecycle, can translate business needs into clear requirements, and is comfortable managing projects from planning through execution, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with front office, middle office, operations, finance, risk, compliance, and technology teams to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Lead requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, process mapping sessions, and project status meetings.
  • Translate business objectives into functional specifications, user stories, workflows, data requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage project plans, timelines, risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables across business and technology teams.
  • Support initiatives involving trading platforms, order management systems, portfolio management systems, risk systems, reporting tools, reconciliation processes, and data feeds.
  • Analyze current-state processes and recommend future-state improvements to increase efficiency, control, scalability, and transparency.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, test case development, defect tracking, and business sign-off.
  • Work with technical teams to clarify requirements and support solution design, implementation, and release planning.
  • Prepare project documentation, status reports, executive updates, training materials, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure project deliverables align with business goals, regulatory expectations, internal controls, and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Business Analyst experience within finance, trading, investment management, capital markets, banking, mortgage finance, or a related financial services environment.
  • Project management experience delivering technology, operations, process improvement, change management, and system implementation projects.
  • Strong understanding of business analysis practices, including requirements gathering, process mapping, gap analysis, data analysis, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with the trade lifecycle, including trade capture, execution, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, valuation, risk, and reporting.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including business users, technology, operations, compliance, risk, and vendors.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain business needs to technical teams and technical concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with trading systems, portfolio management systems, order management systems, risk platforms, or financial reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of fixed income, mortgage-backed securities, derivatives, equities, FX, loans, or other traded financial products.
  • SQL, data analysis, reporting, or data mapping experience.
  • Experience supporting regulatory, compliance, audit, or control-related initiatives.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, CBAP, or related certification is a plus.
