About the Role

The Business Analyst will gather, analyze, and document business requirements while supporting projects throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This role works closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure business needs are clearly defined and translated into successful technology solutions.

You'll participate in requirements gathering, process analysis, testing support, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts while helping ensure projects remain aligned with business goals.

What You'll Do

Business Analysis

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Conduct interviews and workshops with stakeholders to understand current and future business needs.
  • Create business process documentation, workflows, use cases, user stories, and functional requirements.
  • Analyze existing business processes and recommend improvements.
  • Translate business needs into clear technical requirements for development teams.

Project & SDLC Support

  • Participate throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Assist with solution design discussions.
  • Support Agile project activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and user story development.
  • Collaborate with project managers, developers, quality assurance teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Help ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with business objectives.

Testing & Quality

  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Develop and execute test scenarios.
  • Document defects and support issue resolution.
  • Validate completed functionality meets business requirements.

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and status updates.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate meetings and requirements sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience creating process flows, workflows, and business documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with business stakeholders and technical teams
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
  • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar project management tools
  • Experience with Visio, Lucidchart, or other process mapping software
  • SQL or data analysis experience
  • Public sector or government project experience

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work schedule based in Indianapolis, Indiana
