Agile Business Analyst – Legacy Systems Migration

Overview / Summary

We are seeking a Business Analyst to support business and technical analysis activities related to legacy system modernization and migration initiatives. The role involves gathering and documenting business requirements, supporting Agile delivery processes, collaborating with Subject Matter Experts and technical teams, and maintaining product backlogs and user stories. The environment includes a Microsoft technology stack with SQL Server backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile and complete business requirements documentation
  • Use Agile methodologies to analyze and document business functions and requirements
  • Consult with management and personnel to identify, define, and document business functions, operational procedures, business needs, objectives, problems, and input/output requirements
  • Analyze the integration of business functions with technology
  • Perform and/or facilitate business and technical analysis to support project design and implementation for application programming teams
  • Identify and document relevant business processes within legacy application data systems
  • Build, support, and prioritize the product backlog
  • Create user stories based on business requirements and capture technical requirements as needed
  • Participate in team meetings and design sessions in alignment with Scrum ceremonies
  • Work directly with Subject Matter Experts and interface with technical teams as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience in Business Analysis, including eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business functions, processes, and requirements
  • Two (2) years of experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, including writing user stories and maintaining a healthy product backlog
  • Experience creating requirements documentation for complex projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with government modernization projects, including replacement of legacy regulatory or licensing systems used for permitting, compliance tracking, and financial/reporting functions
  • Business Analysis certifications such as PMI-PBA or CBAP
  • Experience with quality assurance testing of application software
  • Experience creating operating procedures, user guides, and/or training materials
  • Experience creating wireframes/mockups using applications such as Figma
