Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Two years of experience as an Automotive Technician, Diesel Technician, Heavy Duty Truck Technician, Marine Technician, Aviation Technician or Bus Technician are required. Must have a valid Class E Drivers License. OR Candidates may substitute the required experience with having graduated from an accredited vocational school program in Heavy Duty Truck Technology, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Marine Service Technology, Aviation Maintenance, Bus Mechanics, or from any school with approved car manufacturer training programs for dealers such as Ford, Toyota, Honda, Chevrolet, or other manufacturers. Candidates must have a valid Class E Drivers License. A performance test will be given at the time of the interview. Candidates selected for employment will be placed in training status and must successfully complete the Bus Maintenance Technician Training Program.

Employees in this position perform advanced skilled mechanical work in all phases of maintenance, repair, and overhaul of diesel and gasoline engines and auxiliary equipment. Work involves a variety of advanced tasks in the analysis, diagnoses, testing, adjustment, repair, and maintenance of component parts of transit equipment, as well as the analysis, diagnosis. and repair of more difficult mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary equipment.
