15.00 per hour starting salary Position 540001Bus Driver- Transportation DepartmentJob DescriptionGeneral Statement of Job Provide safe and efficient transportation for students to and from school. Reports to the Transportation Director and Principal of school.Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain proficiency in driving skillsMaintain record of bus route roster of student names and addressesEnsure care and safety of students boarding riding and departing bus Maintain high standard of student conduct at all times Pick up and discharge students only at authorized school or bus stop locationsTransport only authorized studentsReport infractions of bus safety rules to the principal or designee Obey all bus regulations and traffic laws while operating busPerform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complies with standards of bus cleanlinessOperate the bus on the assigned routes and schedule as provided by the Transportation DepartmentAttend bus safety meetings Inform TIMS Manager or Transportation Specialist of any students added or deleted from route which may necessitate a change in route or bus stopAccept responsibility for securing bus before leaving the vehicle at the conclusion of a run or routeResponsible for reporting any observable mechanical defects or failures on the busMaintain acceptable relations with parentsguardians of students transported and with school personnelOther duties as assigned by Transportation DirectorMinimum Training and ExperienceThree days in class trainingThree days on-the-road training with instructorMinimum Qualifications or Standards Required To Perform Essential Job FunctionsMust be at least eighteen 18 years old with six 6 months driving experienceMust possess and maintain a current North Carolina commercial drivers license with and &ldquoS&rdquo restriction or a &ldquop&rdquo endorsementMust possess and maintain a current Bus Drivers Pocket CardMust pass a DOT drug and alcohol test.Must be able to exert 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objectsMust be able to walk lift reach stoop stand grasp balance climb kneel and crouchMust be able to work in various inside and outside environments when subjected to weather changes noise vibrations job hazards and atmospheric conditionsMust be able to hear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levelsMust be able to work safely in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens which may require specialized personal protective equipment. &bull &bull Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructionsDISCLAIMER The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
