The Bus Driver is responsible for safely operating the College's bus per set schedule.

  • Operate the College bus in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
  • Pick up and deliver employees, students, and guests as per a schedule. 
  • Operate the bus in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform safety and maintenance checks.
  • Clean the bus as scheduled and/or required.
  • Ensure the bus is safely and securely stored.
  • Advise appropriate personnel of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  • Maintain trip logs, gas receipts and any service receipts.
  • Maintain pre and post trip logs.
  • Collect directions and know trip routes well.
  • Stay alert in bad traffic and/or weather conditions.
  • Interact with passengers and maintain order on the bus.
  • Maintain professional conduct in dealing with students, staff, administration, faculty, and the college community.
  • Maintain Class A license with a passenger, double/triple, and tank endorsements. Endorsements must be obtained before third-party testing school.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Assist in enforcing all college policies.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent, required
  • A valid CDL with passenger or bus endorsement, required
  • Clean driving record, required 
  • Ability to be insurable, required
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening, required
  • Experience in maintaining bus units, preferred

  • a completed Northwest-Shoals Community College online application form, 
  • a current resume, and
  • valid CDL with passenger or bus endorsement.

Salary: $180 per day - Work hours will vary.
