Job Title

Takes food and beverage orders, pours beverages, serves food and beverages, busses tables, calculates, presents and processes checks while constantly providing exceptional service to all members, guests and coworkers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Greet guests, escort them to their seats and present them with menus and beverage lists.
  • Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests and employees.
  • Answer questions about menu items and beverages including their ingredients, preparation, accompanying items and make recommendations. Inform customers of daily specials.
  • Take orders from guests for food and/or beverage items.
  • Enter orders and modifications into POS system quickly, in proper sequence and uses appropriate abbreviation.
  • Serve Food and/or Beverages to guests; prepare and serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
  • Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meal and experience and take action to correct any problems.
  • Observes guests to respond to any additional needs.
  • Maintain table appearance by pre-bussing, checking drink levels, removing clutter and presetting necessary utensils.
  • Prepare and present checks, collect payments on checks by having check signed by member or process a credit card.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from table or bar and empty them in an orderly fashion in the dishwashing area.
  • Provide continuous and timely service until the guests leaves the premises and gives them a warm farewell.
  • Uphold the standards and expectations of food and service quality set forth by Glade Springs.
  • Check identification in order to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Follows alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication of guests and handling of an intoxicated guest.
  • Helps in physical set-up of dining room, social functions, events and tournaments.
  • Maintains organized workstation and performs daily, weekly and monthly side work duties set by Service Manager.
  • Attend scheduled training seminars and department meetings.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company associates and purveyors to promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate, which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Maintains a professional standard at Glade Springs to include but not limited to: appearance, verbal discussions, written correspondence and interactions with members, associates and guests. Does not discuss confidential items with fellow associates or work-related issues with members or guests.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Restaurant Manager.

Qualification Standards

Education and Experience :

  • Must have the ability to communicate in English
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a WV food handlers card
  • Must be dressed neatly and well groomed in company approved uniform at all times
  • Communicates well with guests
  • Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a 'team player'
  • Solid knowledge of Food & Beverage operations and service, wines and preparation techniques
  • Must have a flexible schedule: weekends, holidays and nights will be required

  • Ability to work entire shift standing and moving about in restaurants and kitchen area
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to lift/carry weight up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to push/and pull carts of products weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • High complexity of decision making.
  • High ability to organize workload to determine priority of duties as related to the specific job title. Includes good communications skills, team work, and the ability to work on own.
