Job Description

TITLE: Building Supervisor

PAY GRADE 24: $25.37 - $26.47 hourly (based on education and experience)

LENGTH: 8 hours daily

REPORTS TO: Facilities Operations Manager, Facilities Director and Principal

QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications are considered to be the minimum acceptable skills and qualifications necessary to be considered for this position.

  • Applications must have two year's experience or the equivalent skills and experience from a similar position.
  • Applications must have a knowledge & experience in the operation of a gas-fired Boiler.
  • Applicants not meeting the above qualifications will not be considered for the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates and coordinates building and grounds maintenance, cleaning activity needs and inventory needs with the Facilities Office, building administration and contracted custodial services.
  • Maintains, cleans and ensures safety of buildings and premises, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and grassy areas; removes snow and salts or sands icy areas when needed.
  • Inspects fire extinguishers, playground equipment, emergency lighting and pressure relief valves; Distributes building keys and maintains log of key holders; supervises monthly fire, intruder and tornado drills.
  • Communicate and coordinate with FMS (Facilities Management Services), our cleaning contractor, the activities and cleaning needs of the building.
  • If the physical plant has a pool routine maintenance will need to be done such as back wash filters, caulks, clean pool, empties and refills pool and painting.
  • Engaged in the general cleaning and up keep of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing windows.
  • Answers building alarm calls.
  • Complies with safety regulations concerning the mixing, storage and handling of chemical supplies.
  • Maintains in depth knowledge of fire and security alarm systems.
  • Uses proper procedures when cleaning body fluid spills.
  • Empties trash containers; complies with local procedures and laws for the storage and disposal of trash and waste.
  • Changes light bulbs, ballast, door closers, switches, outlets and other maintenance to include plumbing and roofing repairs.
  • Conducts regular inspections of, and performs preventive maintenance and general maintenance on the physical plant, including heating, ventilating, air conditioning and other electrical and mechanical systems and equipment to keep them operating in a safe, efficient and economical manner.
  • Sets up equipment, tables and chairs for games and school events; changes marquee; unloads trucks.
  • Other related duties as may, from time to time, be assigned by the Principal or Custodial Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling.
  • Repeated bending.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate grounds equipment and tools.
  • Repetitive use of wrists and/or hands.
  • Ability to maintain balance.
  • Reaching overhead, horizontally and above the shoulders.
  • Rapid mental/muscular coordination.
  • Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
  • Accurate depth perception.
  • Subject to loud noises.
  • Clarity of vision at varying distances to see small details and have color vision/distinguish shades.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
