Requirements
REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
OPTION I: Three years of office clerical experience, one year of which must have been in specialized* or supervisory capacity.
OPTION II: Completion of 15 college semester units or 22.5 college quarter units in an accredited college or university in any combination of building inspection technology, engineering, architecture, physical science, or mathematics*.
OPTION III: Current certification by the ICC as a Permit Technician or equivalent permit technician certification.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class 2 - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
Supervisory capacity is defined as: Supervising, for a substantial portion of their time, general and specialized office clerical work. Has full supervisory responsibility including planning, assigning, scheduling, hiring, rating performance evaluations, disciplining, and counseling clerical employees. Provides day-to-day technical and administrative supervision to subordinate clerical staff.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of a Multiple-Choice and/or Simulation Assessment, weighted at 100%, measuring the following competencies:
MULTIPLE CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENT(S) ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.
APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE REQUIREMENTS AND ACHIEVE 70% OR HIGHER IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON THE ELIGIBLE LIST.
TESTING ACCOMODATION:

We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test, we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.

Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list for a period of 12 months. We will use the list to fill vacancies in Public Works as they occur.
