In addition, the Building Performance Engineer II will manage individually assigned projects as well as collaborate with team members on other projects.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Performs energy model simulations using industry software to assess code compliance and high performance designAnalyzes, reviews, and/or consults on project documentation of energy-related systems found in architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings and specificationsPerforms calculations to document various credits in the LEED rating systemsProvides comments and technical reports on LEED projects and sustainability goals to design teams, clients, and/or contractorsCompletes the project scope and requirements with the client and other stakeholdersManages individually assigned projects by monitoring the budget and schedule as well as maintaining communication with the client to ensure the project is completed to the client's expectationsUnderstands and communicates high performance design and sustainable design regulations to project teamsAssist senior staff and service line director in procuring and pursuing new work and new clients for business developmentMaintains a positive relationship with internal and external clients through quality of communication and work productPerforms site visits to monitor progress, verify implemented LEED measures, and review conformance to the client's expectations and building codesAttend and lead project design/construction meetings as neededParticipates in building assessments for Energy Star ratings and other energy performance aspectsContinuously reviews code and policy updates/addendums to see if any are applicable to a current projectDevelop technical documentation and presentations to clientsActively attends internal and external training and other educational opportunities to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areasAssist with training of less experienced colleagues on LEED documentation and processesKNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:KNOWLEDGEKnowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) softwareKnowledge of energy modeling software simulation programs (e.g., TraneTrace, IES)Knowledge of HVAC systems, loads, and controlsKnowledge of standards, codes, and rating systems associated with sustainability and energy performanceKnowledge of sustainable building practicesKnowledge and understanding of energy modeling processKnowledge of LEED credit requirementsSKILLS AND ABILITIESComprehension - ability to understand information, ideas, and direction presented in writing and/or verbally communicatedWritten Communication Skills - ability to clearly deliver a message through written words using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuationSpeech Clarity - ability to speak clearly and in a common language so that others can understand youDetail-Oriented - ability to achieve accuracy and thoroughness when accomplishing a task; pays attention to details and is able to understand what caused a certain outcomeTeamwork and Collaboration Skills- ability to work productively with other team members for project and team success.
