Quality Staffing, Inc., also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search, a leading full-service employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the area's top companies, is seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to work through our agency as a contract employee with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TN MHSAS) located in Nashville, TN.  This is an on-siteposition working from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The pay rate for this position is $23.00 per hour.  
 
Building Maintenance Worker Job Description:
The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker, to work under general supervision, performing semi-skilled and skilled building maintenance work of average difficulty and to perform related work as required. The role will involve performing a variety of tasks including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and general mechanical repair work.
 
Building Maintenance Worker Job Responsibilities will include:
  • Identifying maintenance issues in order to repair/resolve issues or report issues to someone who can repair/resolve them.
  • Performing repair work using diagrams, drawings, or maintenance manuals.
  • Operating and utilizing a variety of tools and equipment such as assorted hand and power tools, plungers, sewer rodders, drills, skills saws, and grinders.
  • Providing direction and oversight to others as needed.
  • Inspecting devices such as electrical systems, basic plumbing, mechanical systems (i.e., HVAC, laundry, and food service equipment), removing and replacing defective parts to determine necessary repairs.
  • Performing routine repairs on standard work equipment.
  • Rewiring electrical outlets and breaker boxes; performing routine electrical tasks.
  • Repairing windows, doors, flooring, woodwork, drywall or other parts of building structures.
  • Performing basic carpentry tasks and minor HVAC repair.
  • Performing minor construction, plumbing, landscaping, janitorial, and basic welding tasks.
  • Painting interiors and exteriors of facilities including walls, ceilings, window trim, baseboards and doors.
  • Determining the materials needed to complete work assignments such as paint colors, paint quantities, equipment, and tools.
  • Performing miscellaneous restoration and installation activities to building materials such as caulk, windows, wallpaper, office furniture, and mirrors.
  • Operating machinery to move heavy objects or lift workers to inspect, repair, and paint buildings or other structures.
  • Installing drywall, plasterboard, or wallboard to complete the construction or repair of interior walls.
  • Installing windows, doors, frames, floorings, trim or hardware.
  • Inspecting equipment to ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures.
  • Adhering to proper safety procedures including TOSHA standards regarding areas such as use of respirator masks, disposal of waste materials, and hazardous materials.
  • Reviewing preventative maintenance plans in order to perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure equipment continues to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of building does not deteriorate.
  • Performing daily walk through/inspection of facilities to ensure proper working conditions.
  • Coordinating with the Facility Supervisor on work assignments to ensure the timely and accurate completion of work projects.
  • Scheduling phases of projects at appropriate time frames to allow the proper application of materials and minimize inconvenience to facility users and the public.
  • Sketching and/or laying out information to establish a guide for projects and as necessary to prepare information for approval process; assisting in making cost estimates for projects.
  • Communicating with outside vendors and customers to provide basic customer service and direct persons to appropriate solutions and answers.
  • May operate state issued pickup truck, golf cart or other vehicle.


Experience and Minimum Qualifications Required for Building Maintenance Worker position: 
  • Graduate of an accredited high school or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Experience equivalent to three (3) years of full-time increasingly skilled labor and trade work including at least two (2) years in building maintenance work.
  • Certification in building maintenance job skills is preferred.
