Description:

Position Overview:

The Environmental Service Technician (Building Maintenance) at the Sanctuary of Holy Cross is responsible for maintaining the physical condition, and functionality of the long-term care facility. This role ensures a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial tasks in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, and other critical equipment.
  • Address and resolve work orders promptly, including minor repairs to fixtures, doors, flooring, and furniture.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Facility Operations:

  • Monitor and manage building systems, including lighting, heating, cooling, and security.
  • Assist in emergency response situations, such as power outages or water leaks.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire code regulations.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and inspections.

Resident and Staff Support:

  • Provide prompt and courteous responses to resident and staff maintenance requests.
  • Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor when interacting with residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Assist with furniture moves, room setups, and event preparation as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training or certification in building maintenance, HVAC, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in building maintenance or a similar role, ideally in a healthcare or long-term care setting.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • EPA Section 608 Certification (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if applicable).
