Building Inspector - $7,394.40 - $8,989.07 monthly
Combination Building Inspector - $8,164.00 - $9,921.60 monthly
Senior Combination Building Inspector - $9,113.87 - $11,077.74 monthly
This unique classification offers the successful candidate the ability to promote from Building Inspector to Combination Building Inspector or Senior Combination Building Inspector without a competitive recruitment, upon recommendation of the Department Head after a performance evaluation review, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications and demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities.

The successful candidate will be hired as a Building Inspector, Combination Building Inspector or Senior Combination Building Inspector depending on the candidates qualifications and needs of the department. Incumbents will have the opportunity to promote to the Combination or Senior Combination Building Inspector classifications upon the departments recommendation and meeting all requirements.
This classification plays a pivotal role in the daily operation of the Building Departments field inspection activities. The ideal candidate for this classification will have the ability to provide excellent service to our community through teamwork, solid communication, and responsiveness. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be a strong resource to our community, developers, and internal staff. The mission of the Building Department is to contribute to Ontarios economic development and protect the lives and safety of Ontarios citizens and its visitors, by providing timely and professional plan review and inspection services to ensure buildings and projects are built and developed in compliance with all applicable municipal and state code requirements.

Qualification Guidelines
Building Inspector
Education
High School diploma or recognized equivalent.
Experience
Three (3) years of construction management experience as a Construction Superintendent, Construction Manager or a comparable position; or one (1) year of experience conducting building inspections as a certified Building Inspector.
Desirable
Previous experience working for a public agency, and certified International Code Council (ICC) Residential Building Inspector or International Code Council (ICC) Commercial Building Inspector.
Licenses
Valid Class C California driver's license and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment.
Certification
As a condition of continued employment, employees in this classification must obtain one of the following certifications prior to the end of their one year probationary period:
Advancement
A Building Inspector may be considered for advancement to Combination Building Inspector upon meeting the qualification guidelines, completing all training requirements, receiving satisfactory performance evaluations, and recommendation from management.
Combination Building Inspector
Education
High School diploma or recognized equivalent.
Experience
Three (3) years of experience in building inspections, including experience with code and permit procedures.
Desirable
Previous experience working for a public agency. Course work or experience in building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical construction. State Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Codes and contractors license laws, Title 24 Energy and Accessibility Standards.
Licenses
Valid Class C CA drivers license and an acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment in this classification.
Certification
Possession of the following valid certifications:

Previous experience working for a public agency. In depth knowledge of State Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Codes and contractors license laws, Title 24 Energy and Accessibility Standards.
Licenses
Valid Class C CA drivers license and an acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment in this classification.
Certification
Possession of the following valid certifications:
Possession of four of the following valid International Code Council (ICC) certifications is required:
