Position Summary
The Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, cleanliness, and appearance of campus buildings and grounds. This position combines hands-on facility maintenance, custodial responsibilities, and groundskeeping to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Essential Job Functions
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
Perform routine inspections of building exteriors (roof, façade, drainage systems)
Conduct light carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and painting repairs.
Repair wear and damage to buildings, fixtures, and equipment
Service common area appliances, plumbing, and electrical systems
Perform minor HVAC maintenance and repairs (filters, motors, basic troubleshooting)
Maintain working knowledge of:
Power and water shutoffs
Fire systems (extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, pumps)
Generators and emergency systems
Work Orders & Operations
Generate, prioritize, and complete maintenance work orders.
Maintain accurate daily logs of completed tasks.
Evaluate repair needs and submit cost estimates and reports.
Coordinate with and assist outside contractors on-site.
Submit requests for specialized maintenance when required.

General Requirements
Proven handyman experience with working knowledge of:
Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance
Ability to operate basic tools and maintenance equipment.
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work both independently and on a team.
Strong communication and customer service skills
Computer literacy for work order systems and reporting
Dependable transportation and valid driver's license
