Position Summary

This position is responsible for the maintenance of the Hospital buildings, equipment grounds and the plant facilities. The incumbent must be highly skilled in all aspects of the building trades including but not limited to; carpentry, plumbing, electrical, utility management, welding, masonry, sheet metal fabrication, construction, mechanics, etc. Furthermore, this position is held accountable to working in a lead capacity through the direction of the Manager of Plant Operations. This position is often called upon to plan, organize, train staff in the functions of the building trades, and to direct and supervise assigned activities of the Plant Operations functions which are necessary in maintaining the hospital plant in working conditions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  1. Ability to safely and competently perform assigned duties.

  2. Models outstanding customer service skills using "Simply Better" and AIDET principles.

  3. Communicates effectively in written and verbal form.

  4. Demonstrates composure and appropriateness in performance of duties under duress.

  5. Performs advanced maintenance within the building trades.

  6. Responds to emergency situations involving either patient safety or building safety according to hospital policies and procedures and/or regulatory requirements. (In emergency response situations, may be assigned a lead role in response and recovery e.g. HICS)

  7. Ability to be at work and be on time.

  8. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.

  9. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.

  10. Ability to prioritize and multitask.

  • Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications

Qualifications/Work Experience

  • 1 - 3 years experience in general maintenance operations, preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all outside vendors and clients.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Education

  • DMV record pulled annually by Risk Management, if driving company vehicle, required.
  • One (1) year certificate form college or technical school preferred.
