Building Automation and Process Controls Technologist

Your mission: turn a large-scale data center’s designs into a living, responsive control system. From the first termination to the final loop check, you’ll be the hands-on expert connecting instruments, proving signals, and helping bring HVAC, cooling, and monitoring systems online—seamlessly integrated with building automation and Siemens PLC platforms.

Impact you’ll make

In this contract role, you will support construction and commissioning by ensuring every sensor, transmitter, and valve is installed correctly, documented clearly, and verified to perform during startup.

Key outcomes

  • Precise terminations at panels, J-boxes, and field devices
  • Installation and wiring of flow meters, temperature sensors, pressure transmitters, control valves, and monitoring devices
  • Confident interpretation of electrical schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, control panel drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Hands-on commissioning assistance for data center control systems
  • Accurate point-to-point checks and loop verification
  • Swift troubleshooting of wiring faults, communication issues, and signal discrepancies
  • Validation of device operation during startup and commissioning
  • Support for Siemens PLC integration and field I/O checkout
  • Close collaboration with engineers and commissioning teams to clear deficiencies
  • Thorough redlines and field-change documentation for engineering updates
  • Consistent adherence to project quality and safety requirements

Capabilities we’re seeking

  • 3+ years as an Instrumentation & Controls Technician
  • Demonstrated field device termination expertise
  • Direct experience with Siemens PLCs / Siemens controls platforms
  • Proven loop-checking and commissioning support
  • Strong blueprint and electrical schematic literacy
  • Industrial instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage control systems
  • Preference for backgrounds in industrial, mission-critical, or data center environments

How you’ll fit the team

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and quality-driven
  • Positive, coachable, and collaborative—team-first mindset
  • Clear communicator across field and engineering groups
  • Comfortable moving fast without sacrificing accuracy

Where you might come from

  • Data centers and mission-critical facility construction
  • Industrial automation or system integrator environments (such as Prime Controls)
  • Water/wastewater controls and broader process controls

Role snapshot

  • Location: Litchfield Park, AZ
  • Employment Type: Contract
  • Compensation: $32–$36/hr DOE
  • Schedule: Guaranteed 60-hour work weeks and 20 hours OT guaranteed weekly
