The Building & Grounds Technician is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, functionality, and appearance of the company’s buildings and property. This role includes carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, ceiling, and door repairs, as well as lawn and plant care, landscaping, and grounds maintenance. The technician also assists with office furniture moves, ensures equipment and tools are properly maintained, and supports a safe and clean working environment. By performing inspections, addressing issues, and delivering high-quality maintenance, the Building & Grounds Technician helps ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and visually appealing.
Key Job Elements- Perform daily inspections of building (ceiling, floors, walls, windows, doors, etc.)
- Conduct building maintenance, including painting, carpentry, drywall, floors, ceilings, doors/locks, and other structural needs
- Assist with office furniture and equipment moves as needed
- Maintain lawn care (mowing, edging, fertilizing, weeding, blowing)
- Perform plant care (planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, monitoring health)
- Manage grounds maintenance, including debris clearing, trash bin emptying, walkways, patios, power washing, sealing concrete
- Operate and maintain landscaping tools, mowers, trimmers, and power tools
Requirements- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Understanding of different plant and grass species, their care, and common issues
- Ability to lift 25+ pounds and perform physically demanding outdoor tasks in all weather
- Ability to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl (including confined spaces)
- Willingness to learn beyond primary roles to remain versatile and adaptable
- Strong problem-solving skills to address building and grounds issues
- Attention to detail in cleanliness, organization, and task execution
- Communication skills to interact with managers and coworkers on maintenance needs
- Compliance with safety procedures for equipment operation, chemical handling, and site safety
- Ability to operate landscaping and power tools properly
- Recordkeeping skills for work performed, materials used, and inventory tracking
