Build Program Managers on the Battery Pack Design Engineering team drive builds to enable light-speed validation of new cell & pack technologies through critical testing. This role requires a highly organized mind set, an enthusiasm for developing new technologies, and an unparalleled ability to pull people together to get things done. This role works out of the battery design engineering laboratory, so you must be flexible with frequently changing early-stage designs but coordinate a build team across multiple product lines and company functions - so you must be able to quickly adapt plans to drive stability in our build execution. In order to support our multiple parallel development programs, you must be detail-oriented while driving design, build, and cross-functional teams to execute quickly at high quality. You must be passionate but direction changes frequently, so you must also be resilient. Our lab supports builds for both Teslas electric vehicles & energy products.

Accountable for creating, maintaining, and communicating schedules & plans for battery builds. Drive action with internal & cross-functional teams to successfully complete builds within time & resource constraints. Identify creative & timely solutions to key build challenges. Track build progress & report effectively on status blockers & changes. Develop & maintain effective communication channels to all stakeholders. Track build resourcing & drive resource balancing between different program priorities. Continuously improve build management systems & best practices. Drive lab improvement projects, equipment processes, data tools to continuously increase our capabilities & capacity. Own build BOM accuracy & communication of changes between design, supply chain, NPI, & material planning. Complete appropriate documentation & ensure accuracy of data across Tesla systems, JIRA, Confluence, Enovia inventory tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Experience creating reports, analyses, or reporting tools for management
  • Experience in managing or launching hardware products
  • Understanding of the design cycle & design problem-solving processes
  • Ability to work cross-functionally & manage large teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping & organizational skills
  • Good overall computer skills, including Microsoft Office & e-mail programs

Expected Compensation

$112,000 - $217,200 annual salary, including cash and stock awards, benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
