The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.
Description of Work
The Budget Analyst II supports the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s budget operations by contributing to the development, execution, and analysis of the agency’s annual and biennial budgets. The position provides direct fiscal and analytical support to program leaders, ensuring the effective allocation and management of state and federal resources that impact K–12 public education statewide. This role requires strong technical, analytical, and communication skills to support strategic decision making aligned with departmental priorities.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $57,983.00 - $95,790.00

Budget Section Information:
The Agency Budget Section provides responsive, transparent, and effective budget planning, fiscal management, reporting, and advisory services to the agency’s senior leadership and program managers, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. Staff use their technical expertise and analytical skills to proactively anticipate financial issues and provide recommendations that help mitigate risk and maximize opportunities across DPI’s operations.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or related field, from an accredited institution and four years of experience preferably including experience in accounting or budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
