Branch Manager – Commercial Grounds Maintenance (CGM) - Charlotte, NC 

Position Overview

The Commercial Grounds Maintenance (CGM) Branch Manager is responsible for the overall planning and performance of a Bland Landscaping Company Commercial Grounds Maintenance Branch. This position oversees various administrative and management functions, directlysupporting roles such as Account Managers, Production Managers, Enhancement Managers, Landscape Designers, and Contract Estimators. The CGM Branch Manager must be an effective leader, possess a strong work ethic, inspire others, and have a deep understanding of turf, horticultural practices, and agri-business operations. Other duties may be required as directed by the Regional Director or Vice President. 

Responsibilities Including but Not Limited to:

  • Management
    • Implement all company policies and procedures as they relate to CRM, administration, enhancement design, installation, and CGM production teams.

    • Balance the delivery of high-quality work through Account Managers and Production Managers with branch profitability, utilizing key reporting tools such as KPI reports.

    • Develop team members (Levels II–VI) through training and coaching, with support from the Regional Director.

    • Foster strong team cohesion within the branch.

    • Facilitate bi-weekly branch meetings using a structured agenda submitted to the executive team.

  • Horticulture
    • Implement and supervise all aspects of horticulture on job sites through Account Manager and Production Managers.

    • Continually expand horticultural knowledge through ongoing education and by networking with industry leaders.

  • Administration and Accounting
    • Oversee purchasing, invoicing, inventory, billing, and collections for the branch.

    • Review open work order reports and ensure proper closeouts.

    • Measure, record, and submit monthly branch inventory to the Controller.

    • Manage budgeting and cost controls for the branch.

    • Utilize company systems to forecast and effectively communicate labor and material budgets to guide production.

    • Act with initiative to maintain the integrity of data provided to the accounting system (BOSSLM mobile timesheets, inventory, and work orders).

    • Work with the Regional Director, Operations Manager, and Production Managers to manage equipment inventory and ensure accurate record-keeping.

    • Ensure accounting policies and procedures are followed consistently.

    • Ensure all operations-related entries are made using BOSSLM for effective communication, scheduling, and tracking of job issues.

  • Personnel / Production
    • Oversee Production Managers in conducting interviews, hiring, orientation, training, performance reviews, and terminations.

    • Manage seasonally adjusted headcount and budgeted vs. actual hours using tools like KPI reports, with support from the Regional Director

    • Utilize BOSSLM reports to forecast fluctuating human resource needs on a seasonal basis within the branch.

    • Ensure monthly budgeted hours are forecasted and proactively managed by each Production Manager within the branch, directing adjustments as needed.

    • Implement and manage the general safety program with guidance from the Regional Director.

  • Sales and Services
    • Engage in effective customer relations both directly and indirectly through the Account Manager team by communicating effectively, resolving client needs, and representing the company in a customer-centric manner.

    • Promptly address client concerns to maintain excellent client relationships.

    • Maintain strong client relationships to retain a minimum of 95% of Commercial Grounds Management contracts.

    • Review required price increases and approve all contract renewals within the branch prior to presenting them to the Regional Director for signature.

    • Promote Enhancement sales directly and indirectly through collaboration with the Account Managers and the Enhancement Designer to meet annual branch sales goals set by executive leadership.

    • Promote Commercial Grounds Maintenance sales directly and indirectly through the Account Manager team to achieve annual branch sales goals.

    • Utilize BOSSLM and required reports to track the Commercial Grounds Management sales pipeline, contract retention, and enhancement sales.

  • Miscellaneous
    • Coordinate and communicate with management teams to support the overall advancement of Bland Landscaping Company.

    • Ensure branch lockup and facility security.

    • Ensure timely repairs to facilities and assets using approved vendors and adhering to company guidelines.

    • Coordinate vehicle and equipment repairs with the Operations Manager.

    • Ensure the safe operation of all company-owned assets.

    • Safely drive company vehicles and work with HR to ensure all approved drivers maintain safe driving records by periodically reviewing MVRs.

    • Drive continuous innovation to keep the branch at the forefront of the landscape industry.

    • Oversee the management of subcontractors, directly and indirectly.

  • Compensation and Benefits
    • Starting Salary: $95,000+ per year (commensurate with experience)

  • Ability to bend and stoop on a continual basis.

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to work around environmental risks such as bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and ice.

  • Adherence to Bland Landscaping Company, Inc. policies.

  • Possession and maintenance of an NCDA pesticide applicator’s license.

  • Valid NC Driver’s license with a maintained clean driving record.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate others.

  • Active participation in training BLC employees.

  • Ability to work well with BLC customers.

  • Commitment to pursuing continuing education opportunities.

  • Active networking to promote BLC.
