    Bookkeeping Team Leader

    Location: Williamsburg, In-Office

    Position Type: Full-Time

    Salary: $100K

    About the Role

We are seeking a sharp, organized, and proactive Bookkeeping Team Leader to head our growing accounting department. In this role, you will bridge the gap between high-level oversight and hands-on execution.

You will directly lead and review the work of three full-time bookkeepers, while ultimately owning the books for the team. The ideal candidate has strong foundational bookkeeping experience, a natural ability to guide others, and absolute mastery over both QuickBooks platforms.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and support a team of three bookkeepers, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines across all accounts.

    • Own the Books: Take ultimate accountability for the general ledger, financial statements, and end-of-month/end-of-year closing processes.

    • Quality Assurance: Review and audit the team’s daily work, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processing.

    • Process Optimization: Streamline workflows, implement bookkeeping best practices, and troubleshoot complex accounting issues as they arise.

    • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present clean, accurate weekly and monthly financial reports for management review.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements)

    • Experience: 2 to 3 years of solid, hands-on experience as a full-charge bookkeeper. (Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a major plus, but a senior bookkeeper ready to step up is welcome).

    • Software Mastery: Absolute proficiency in both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online (QBO) is non-negotiable.

    • Ownership Mindset: Someone who takes pride in flawless financials and proactively catches mistakes before they become problems.

    • Communication & Mentorship: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively guide a team and communicate financial data clearly to management.
