Bookkeeper
Description
Accounting firm is seeking a staff financial for its diverse Small Business Department.
Responsibilities:
The accountant will be responsible for various bookkeeping duties for multiple clients. Responsibilities will include maintaining bookkeeping and accounting records for assigned clients, including the general journal, cash accounts, bill payments, and monthly account reconciliations. Once accounts have been reconciled and proper journal entries have been recorded, compiled financial statements will be prepared.
The accountant will also be assigned multiple payrolls for processing. Responsibilities associated with payroll will include creating payroll checks, direct deposits, payroll tax deposits, garnishment payments, and payroll tax returns.
Other bookkeeper duties that will be assigned throughout the year include:
Sales tax returns
Business license preparation
Personal property returns
1099s
QuickBooks training for clients
Year-end cleanup of financials to be used by our tax department for tax return preparation
Flexible Work Schedule:
This job does not have the typical public accounting hours. We work 50 hours per week during January, 45 hours per week during February, and 40 hours per week from March through April 15. The remainder of the year is 37.5 hours per week.
Option to leave at 12:00 PM on Fridays once hours have been reached
Option to work some hours remotely after 6 months of training

Qualifications:
Experience processing payrolls and payroll tax returns
Experience reconciling bank accounts
Experience preparing monthly financial statements
Experience with QuickBooks
Preference will be given to individuals with public accounting experience
