The Opportunity

A well-established industrial controls integrator — the regional leader in boiler control systems for NY, NJ, and New England — is looking for an experienced electrical engineer to design combustion control and burner management systems for industrial steam plants. Founded in 1972, this company serves hospitals, universities, utilities, and major manufacturers operating high-pressure steam and hot water generating facilities. If you have strong PLC programming skills and want to own technically complex projects from design through commissioning, this role delivers exactly that.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Competitive salary and full benefits package including medical, disability, and pension
  • Small-company flexibility to recognize and reward individual contributions
  • Expense account provided
  • Quick interview turnaround — the right candidate won't wait long

Your Day-to-Day

  • Review project specifications and ensure control system designs meet customer requirements
  • Create control system wiring diagrams and logic diagrams using AutoCAD
  • Program PLCs — primarily Allen Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix — and touchscreen operator interfaces
  • Configure loop controllers for combustion control applications, including Siemens 353, Preferred PCCIII, and Yokogawa YS1700 platforms
  • Develop SCADA solutions using Proficy iFIX and Wonderware
  • Select instrumentation for flow, pressure, and temperature measurement applications
  • Support factory testing, field installation, commissioning, startup, calibration, and combustion testing alongside field service engineers
  • Generate technical submittals, operator training materials, and O&M manuals
  • Provide technical support to the sales team

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of PLC programming experience — required
  • 5+ years of AutoCAD experience — required
  • Background in boilers, burners, combustion controls, or industrial instrumentation is preferred; the right candidate can be trained
  • Ability to travel regionally to support commissioning and startup activities
  • Strong technical skills with a track record of meeting project goals and deadlines

Ready to Apply?

This is a chance to do technically demanding work — designing the control systems that keep industrial steam plants running safely and efficiently — at a company with more than 50 years of regional leadership. If you're a PLC-fluent electrical engineer ready to take on combustion control projects from design through startup, apply today.
