Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE:
BraunAbility is looking for an experienced Body Structure Engineer to develop the next generation of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles. This role is central to our new vehicle development programs. This position is responsible for all aspects of development from early-stage concept work, all stages of development and product launch. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Design and develop body (floor) structures in CAD and support prototype builds.
Plan for design, procurement, assembly, and validation requirements and align them with overall project timing and deliverables (Stage Gate/APQP).
Ensure designs conform to quality and cost targets and suggest low cost alternatives.
Support design commonization efforts.
Collaborate in the design of body structure fixtures.
Lead design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Portfolio) to ensure design accounts for all requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field.
5 years’ work experience in automotive body structures design is preferred.
Previous assembly plant launch experience preferred.
Dimensional Management and understanding of GD&T preferred.
Experience with structural design, steel and aluminum parts and manufacturing required.
