Job Summary:
The Board of Tax Appeals Senior Hearing Officer plays an important part at the Board. In this role, you will be responsible for participating in legal or other public seminars and giving speeches to the public on behalf of the board. This position is unclassified pursuant to ORC 124.11A9.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in legal or other public seminars and give speeches to the public on behalf of the board
- Analyze and resolve appeals in a timely and judicious manner by facilitating settlement or by issuing comprehensive written decisions
- Provide real-time case updates via electronic communication to registered users of the boards online case management system
- Establish case management schedules at the time an appeal is docketed in the boards case management system
- Provide thorough educational content on the tax appeals process and access to relevant forms in an electronic format
- Collaborate with other board members to make decisions and resolve conflicts
- Manage time effectively and communicate verbally with taxpayers and taxing authorities
Requirements:
- Attorney
- Legal experience
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
