Job Title: Board-Certified Internal Medicine Physician (3 Openings)
Location: Tyler, TX (On-site – VA Clinic)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Overview
We are seeking Board-Certified Internal Medicine Physicians to provide on-site primary care services at the Tyler Centennial VA Clinic (North Texas VA Health Care System). This role supports veteran patient populations in a collaborative, team-based care model.
This is a long-term contract opportunity with a base year plus four (4) option years.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care services to adult patients
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, COPD, CAD, CHF)
- Conduct patient evaluations, physical exams, and treatment planning
- Prescribe medications and order diagnostic testing
- Manage patient panels and provide continuity of care
- Document all care in the VA’s electronic health record system
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams (PACT model)
- Deliver patient education and follow-up care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical meetings
Physicians typically see 9–12 patients per day and manage panels of ~1,089–1,366 patients.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (ABMS or AOA)
- Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state
- Current BLS certification
- DEA registration (Texas preferred prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in primary care or internal medicine
- Completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
- Strong proficiency in English (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing chronic diseases in adult populations
- Women’s health or chronic pain management experience
- Prior VA or government healthcare experience
- Telehealth experience (VA Video Connect or similar)
