About the Role
The primary purpose of the Biomedical Equipment Technician II position is to provide safety checks, repairs, calibration, and preventive maintenance for all medical equipment.
Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do
- Service provided is patient centered.

- Works effectively with team to ensure customer service scores for work area meet/exceed targets.
- Demonstrates respect for patient rights. Performs all tasks assigned by Manager promptly, maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Ensures the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include but not limited to the inventory, preventative
maintenance schedules, nomenclatures and service history.
- Works with Hospital IT and vendors on change management, downtimes, and disaster recovery procedures and process for
clinical Engineering systems.
- Applies knowledge of HIPAA and security industry standards and acts as department resource on ePHI and HIPAA queries.
- Maintains a clean and neat area. Completes all records required.
- Attends any training required as relevant to the job. Promotes excellent public relations for the Clinical Engineering Department.
- Assumes the professional responsibilities of a Biomedical Equipment Technician.
- Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate
Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as
they change or are modified. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring
Required:
- Associate’s Degree in Biomedical, Electrical or Clinical Technology plus two (2) years of relevant experience required. The 39-week Military Biomedical Equipment Repair School plus one (1) year of technical school may be considered equivalent to an Associate Degree. Maintains operational knowledge of medical device technology, as well as various networking technologies and communications protocols used in healthcare.
- Understands technical details in the applications of medical technologies. Working knowledge of HL7, DICOM, TCIP and communications protocols.
- Understanding of computer and network security. Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)
In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $26.10 - $37.12.
