Summary:

  • AM - 8hr
  • 40hr Days, 7A to 3:30P, M-F, with rotating call (does not have to come to campus but answers the phone when on-call).


Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot critical care related instrumentation in critical care or surgical areas while in use. Diagnose the source of operational failure, if any, of patient-related equipment. Determine if the operation of the device is correct and provide recommendations for improved use.
  • Conduct complete electrical safety testing and inspections on all equipment under the jurisdiction of the department of Clinical Engineering and the department of Health and Hospitals.
  • Provide required periodic calibration of equipment to ensure proper operating function.
  • Conduct complete performance assurance testing. Perform complete performance maintenance procedures as required following protocols.
  • Perform emergency and routine repairs on instrumentation under the jurisdiction of the department of Clinical Engineering and the company.
  • Compile and update equipment inventory, repairs data, and retired equipment.
  • Assist in the formation of performance assurance forms.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation which covers nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participate in the evaluation of biomedical instrumentation under the supervision of the manager or their designee.
  • Attend various hospital committees as directed by the Senior Director.
  • Follow established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
  • Adhere to the company's RESPECT attributes.


Requirements:

  • AAMI certification.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in biomedical instrumentation repair.
  • BLS certification.


Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of standards, regulations, and safety requirements (such as Joint Commission, FDA, ECRI, ASA, OSHA, and DPH).
  • Strong knowledge of biomedical, anesthesia, and patient-care related instrumentation, and detailed understanding of hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic and medical terminology.
  • Ability to repair, maintain, test, and calibrate a wide range of detailed biomedical, anesthesia, and patient-care related instrumentation.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and prepare data into statistical reports.
  • Proficiency with standard software programs used in healthcare (such as MS Word, Outlook) and web browsers, patient registration systems, and electronic medical records.
