Title: Biomass Plant Manager

Key Project Requirements: • 10+ years of supervisory or management experience in a power plant environment (biomass or similar thermal generation preferred) • Strong background in power plant operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance • Proven experience managing plant budgets, staffing, and performance programs • Demonstrated leadership in driving safety, reliability, and operational excellence

Job Summary: NAES is seeking an experienced Power Plant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a biomass power generation facility in California. This role is responsible for providing leadership across plant operations, maintenance, safety, environmental compliance, and performance management. The Plant Manager will operate with a high level of independence and judgment, ensuring the facility meets performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory objectives while maintaining strong cost control and organizational effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Direct and coordinate daily plant operations and maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements • Make and approve major operating and maintenance decisions in alignment with contractual and operational requirements • Lead investigations into operating events and implement corrective actions to minimize repeat occurrences • Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure timely equipment repairs and overhauls • Establish and manage equipment performance and reliability programs to maintain plant capacity and availability • Manage plant budgets, including expenditure approvals, cost control, variance reporting, and workforce scheduling • Coordinate activities with owners' representatives, vendors, and regulatory agencies as required • Ensure effective administration of safety, occupational health, and fire protection programs • Evaluate staffing levels and skill mix; make adjustments as needed within budget guidelines • Oversee hiring, promotion, training, and employee development programs, including new employee orientation • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing power plant operations

Job Requirements: • Strong understanding of power plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and plant support functions • Demonstrated leadership in safety and environmental management • Working knowledge of budgeting, contract administration, human resources, procurement, and plant administration • Familiarity with regulatory agencies governing power plant operations • Ability to plan, coordinate, and direct complex operational and maintenance programs • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound, cost-effective operational decisions • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communication with senior leadership • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and computerized maintenance management systems • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills

Education / Experience: • High School Diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of supervisory or management experience in a power plant environment, OR • Associate degree or industry-recognized certificate in a related discipline with 8+ years of supervisory or management experience in a power plant environment, OR • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 6+ years of supervisory or management experience in a power plant environment • Military leadership experience at an officer level may be considered in lieu of some plant management experience

Compensation Range per year: $145,000 - $185,000
