Job Description:

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Biology faculty member supports the mission of Reynolds Community College and the School of STEM by providing high-quality, inclusive instruction in biology and related life science disciplines. The position contributes to equitable student outcomes by creating engaging learning experiences that prepare students for transfer, health sciences pathways, and workforce opportunities in science and biotechnology-related fields. Responsibilities include instruction, curriculum development, laboratory coordination, advising, assessment, and engagement with academic and industry partners. Faculty are expected to uphold the college's values of access, equity, and excellence while fostering a collaborative and student-centered learning environment that supports the success of all students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in biology; or Master's degree in any discipline with at least eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Biology.

Additional Considerations:

  • Professional, teaching, laboratory, clinical, research, or applied experience in biology, microbiology,ecology, or related life science disciplines.
  • Experience developing curriculum, laboratory activities, training materials, or instructional content in face-to-face, hybrid, or online environments.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, regulatory practices, and best practices in instructional or laboratory settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to support diverse student populations through inclusive, student-centered, and engaging instructional practices.
  • Experience with applied learning, undergraduate research, workforce-aligned instruction, or industry partnerships.
  • Experience in communicating technical concepts to diverse learners and audiences.
  • Experience in collaborating, and working effectively with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, or community stakeholders.
