JOB TITLE:      Bioinformatics Analyst III

DUTIES:      

  • Perform specialized data analysis and build custom data pipelines for quality control and end-to-end analysis of large datasets from diverse workflows in support of cutting-edge laboratory research.
  • Implement, apply, and evaluate tools to process, integrate, batch-correct and visualize genomics datasets (single-cell RNA-seq, Bulk RNA-seq, CITE-seq, BCR-seq and TCRseq), multiparametric flow cytometry datasets, multiplexed cytokine/protein datasets from clinical studies and publicly available datasets.
  • Interpret the data and explain the results in research team meetings, scientific seminars and research discussions with experimental collaborators.
  • Manage multiple data analysis projects and work collaboratively.
  • Identify best-practice bioinformatics tools and strategies to meet the needs of proposed projects.
  • Provide high-quality results, figures and written sections describing methods and results for manuscripts, publications, presentations, and grant applications.
  • Ensure integrity and consistency of primary data, track experimental methods and metadata, and define standardized analysis pipelines.
  • Develop analytical approaches to integrate multimodal data and interpret results to derive biological insights.
  • Coordinate the intake and preparation of new datasets as they become available for analysis.
  • Produce high-quality analysis and data with minimal supervision and make independent decisions.
  • Keep up to date on current bioinformatics, vaccine and immunology literature.
  • Learn new tools and content quickly and independently, with training given for specific types of analysis performed in the lab.

 

REQUIRES:     

Master’s degree in biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, computer science, or a related field, or the foreign degree equivalent, and one (1) year of experience in each of the following:

  • Performing specialized data analysis and building custom data pipelines in a biotechnology research setting.
  • Programming in R, including for sequence-based molecular assay analyses.
  • Programming in Python 3.
  • Linux shell scripting, including bash, echo, shellcheck and chmod.
  • Performing end-to-end analysis of large human genomics datasets.
  • Working with git version control system.
  • Working with high-performance-computing clusters.
  • With genomic tools including STAR, RSEM, kallisto, FastQC, samtools, and IGV.
  • Analyzing human immune cell sequencing datasets.
  • Working independently and as part of a team in a research environment.
  • Training other members of staff on computational pipeline tools.
  • Utilizing strong organizational skills, including managing and prioritizing multiple competing tasks.
  • Presenting technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience may be gained concurrently.

SALARY: The annual base salary range for this position is from $97,822.40 to $146,681.60 and the pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
