The Bindery Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining bindery and finishing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials. This role ensures printed jobs are cut, folded, bound, stitched, and finished accurately according to production specifications, deadlines, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and adjust bindery equipment such as cutters, folders, stitchers, binders, and laminators
  • Read and interpret job tickets, work orders, and production specifications
  • Perform quality checks to ensure finished products meet established standards
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust ensure efficient operation
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on bindery equipment
  • Maintain accurate production records and report issues to supervisors
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Coordinate with press operators, supervisors, and other production staff to meet deadlines
  • Handle materials safely and efficiently to minimize waste and damage

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous bindery, print finishing, or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of bindery machinery and finishing processes
  • Ability to read measuring devices (rulers, calipers) and follow written instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move materials
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
