Billing & Collections Specialist
 
Pay Range & Time:
$20-$24/hour
30-35 hours/week

Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Billing and Collections Specialist located in Greensboro, NC. The Billing and Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing the billing process, preparing and sending invoices, collecting patient balances, and ensuring the accuracy of client billing records. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining financial records, resolving billing discrepancies, interfacing with insurance companies, collaborating with team members, and communicating with clients regarding billing inquiries.
 
Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret medical records to ensure accurate coding.
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims electronically or via paper submissions while adhering to payer-specific guidelines.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility to facilitate smooth claim processing.
  • Submit pre-authorization requests through insurance
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients.
  • Maintain detailed and organized medical billing records within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and billing standards while managing sensitive medical records.
  • Assist in training staff on updated coding practices, billing procedures, and system functionalities to enhance team performance.
 
Qualifications
  • Experience with insurance billing process and client billing
  • Proficiency in preparing and managing invoicing
  • Strong skills in communication for resolving inquiries and providing exceptional client support
  • Ability to work independently with strong self-motivation and consistently meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Associates Degree: additional certifications in medical billing or a degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or service-oriented environment is advantageous
