Openwork is partnering with Harris County to hire Bilingual Voter Registration & Customer Service Specialists to support the Voter Registration Division. This is an excellent opportunity for bilingual individuals who enjoy helping others while playing a crucial role in ensuring accurate, accessible voter registration services for the community. We are seeking candidates fluent in English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese. What You'll Do:
- Bilingual Voter Customer Service: Assist voters by phone, email, mail, and in person in English and your target language (Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese), providing courteous, accurate, and nonpartisan assistance.
- Voter Roll Maintenance & Research: Research, cross-reference, and clean up voter registration rolls across secure county databases to ensure data accuracy and compliance with election guidelines.
- Application Processing: Process voter registration applications, address updates, and cancellations.
- Data Entry & Records Management: Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) to enter voter details, log incoming calls, scan documents, and maintain confidential records.
- Advanced Research (Tier 2 / Degreed Roles): Conduct multi-source database audits and detailed voter history verification to support county record cleanup.
- Follow all county policies, security protocols, and confidentiality requirements in a fast-paced environment.
What We're Looking For:
- Language Skills: Fluent in English AND at least one of the following: Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese (verbal and written).
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. (Bachelor's degree preferred for Tier 2 research roles at $25.00/hr)
- Experience: At least 1 year of professional customer service or administrative experience.
- Typing Speed: 35 words per minute (WPM) or higher.
- Software Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, dependability, and punctuality.
- Availability: Flexible schedule between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, with the ability to work overtime or weekends during peak cycles.
