Job Summary: Assists individuals with finding employment in the community; facilitates training, supervision, and supports individuals on the job; supports individuals to maintain employment; assists with the development of individual plans for each individual; performs other job related duties as assigned. Networks and develops on-going working relationships with community businesses to create new opportunities for individuals seeking employment.
Applicant should have ties into Washington, DC communities, comfortable networking and advocating on behalf of individuals with disabilities, highly organized, energetic and self-motivated. (preferable bilingual)
Essential Functions:
Train, supervise, and support people for employment in the community.
Use a variety of methods to develop jobs.
Network and develop working relationships with community businesses and partner to create new opportunities for people seeking employment.
Conduct weekly informational interviews to learn about hiring needs of community businesses and connect with applicant pool.
Identify the goals, desires and wishes of people seeking employment.
Assist in developing plans for each person and implement services and training goals.
Complete written notes, assessments, reports, billing and other electronic documentation.
Conduct job assessments; maintain documentation of job development; job placement and other related activities.
Provide job coaching to ensure employment success.
Provide regular feedback to the person, service coordinators, families, guardians, and the IDT members.
Conduct personalized work observations.
Assist in the coordination of transportation.
Ensure that performance is monitored and meets the identified goals, desires, and all employer requirements.
Conduct follow up support to assist with continuance of employment.
Attend and participate in all relevant events, workshops, training and meetings.
Provide translating services to stakeholders.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: • College degree required with at least 1 year of professional vocational rehabilitation experience • Certification in sign language preferred • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records System(s). • Effective oral and written communication in the English language. • Attention to detail. • Ability to prioritize and work with a sense of urgency. • Ability to gain a working knowledge of RCM of Washington policies and procedures. • Ability to act as a representative of RCM of Washington to the public. • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with other staff members and peoples from different backgrounds. • Ability to develop people by providing constructive feedback and finding opportunities for their growth. • Ability to pass a criminal background check. • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft products to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint. • Ability to maintain confidentiality. • Excellent organizational skills. • Ability to lift, move, or assist non-ambulatory people and/or weights with a minimum of 60 lbs. • Possess critical thinking, using logic and reason to identify strengths and weakness of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems.
