REPORTS TO: Principal

POSITION TYPE: 11-month

START DATE: 26-27 School Year

COMPENSATION:$60,000 - $75,000 annually

We serve the students of Houston, Texas, the 4th largest city across the United States. There are over 20 public-school districts and other great public charter school options  within Houston’s city limits serving our increasing population.

THE ROLE

Thrive is the short-term alternative program of YES Prep Public Schools that ensures that student have an opportunity to reflect on their strengths, on their mistakes, and to grow in confidence and self-awareness so that they can become advocates of their own learning. We believe in serving ALL students and we build student leaders who will not only advocate for their own needs but will work to serve their communities and to find their bigger purpose in the world. When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:

• Drive the development, implementation and execution of YES Prep intervention support systems and programs on campus that focus on addressing and reducing at-risk barriers to students social, academicand emotional development;
• Participation on the Transition team to plan for successful transitions to and from YES Prep Thrive;
• Providing leadership, coaching, professional learning, and serveas resourceto campus (all stakeholders), and possibly tohome campus leaders on social/emotional health.   
• Collaborate closely with the Academics team to plan and implement the steps necessary to establish, launch, and maintaina strong academic mindset and jaw-dropping results for all students on campus;
• Collaborate closely with the Student Support Counselor to assess for initial therapeutic needs based on previous supports and interventions; case consult for effective continuity of care during post Thrive transition[KC3];
• Conducts quality assessments and offers appropriate recommendations and interventions congruent with student needs. 
• Utilizes data in assessing needs of, and planning positive caring school culture, prevention and social/emotional programming for grade level/school wide programming. 
• Respond to student socio-emotional needs or students in crisis. Demonstrates high level of skill and ability in crisis intervention to include protocol, planning, and execution, and assessment.  
• Consults and collaborates with campus and system staff, parents/guardians, and community partners in a multi-disciplinary approach to identify and reduce barriers to student achievement and persistence. 
• Demonstrates knowledge of school and community resources (i.e. pregnancy and parenting, homebound, homeless, mental health, domestic concerns) available to assist families. 
• Seeks out community resources to establish partnerships that can provide access and services to students; parents and staff.  
• Uses knowledge of community resources and partnerships to make appropriate referrals for students and families.   
• Pursues continuous enhancement of knowledge and skills through supervision, professional development, and continuing education for appropriate licensure requirements.  
• Maintains accurate records while ensuring adequate safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of information and records. 
• Educates consistently and proactively on behalf of students and families based on an understanding of and respect for various cultures and socioeconomic groups represented in the school and community. 
• Actively engages all students and builds positive relationship with appropriate boundaries. 
• Additional duties as assigned.

THE MUST HAVES

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
• Master's or a doctorate in mental health field (MA, MS, MDiv, MSW, PhD, PsyD, EdD, DMin, MD)
• Supervised clinical experience
• Hold a certification/licensure of one of the following within 6 months of employment: LCSW, CSW, MFT, LMFT, MFCC, AAPC, LPC, NCC, NCPsyA.
• 3-5 years of experience working with children
• Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools
• Demonstrated ability to work on a team
• Commitment to supporting ALL students and families
• Ability to work outside of normal hours and on weekends

• Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
• Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
• Creates and maintains positive working relationships on a teamand/or in a highly collaborative environment
• A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional

THE PERKS

• Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; salary offers commensurate with experience.

• Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option and a plan that includes $600 towards a Health Savings Account, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.

• Retirement Plans – Participation in Teacher Retirement System of Texas and a 457b Retirement Plan.

• Paid Time Off – Employees working 20+ hours a week receive 12 days of Paid Time Off when working the full duty schedule in addition to the system closures during the Academic Calendar. PTO days will be pro-rated based on start dates within the assigned duty schedule.

• Paid Leave Programming – In the event you need to be out due to medical needs (including maternity and paternity leave), YES Prep offers paid leave, paid at 100%, based on eligibility and tenure.
