Sr Energy Storage Engineer

Location: Juno Beach, FL (Preferred) | Remote considered for exceptional candidates with additional travel availability

What You"ll Do

As a key member of our engineering team, you will:

  • Support the design, engineering, and technical execution of large-scale battery energy storage projects.
  • Lead technical evaluations and engineering studies to optimize system performance, reliability, safety, and cost.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations to identify deficiencies and improve design quality.
  • Develop technical scopes of work and engineering requirements for contractors, consultants, and equipment suppliers.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to support projects through development, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones.
  • Identify technical risks early and develop practical solutions to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to integrate battery systems, power conversion systems, substations, and associated infrastructure.
  • Partner with civil, electrical, controls, interconnection, permitting, and construction teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Support equipment selection, procurement activities, and technical due diligence reviews.
  • Evaluate permitting requirements and recommend innovative design solutions that support project approvals.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering processes, project execution, and technology deployment.
  • Provide technical guidance and influence project teams in support of successful project outcomes.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor"s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy, energy storage, solar PV, power systems, or related engineering fields.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, project execution, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Ability to independently manage technical assignments and solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Power electronics
  • Utility-scale solar PV systems
  • Electrical substations
  • Generation interconnection and grid integration
  • Power conversion systems and inverter technologies
  • DC/DC converter design and applications

Knowledge of:

  • Lithium-ion battery technologies and energy storage system architecture
  • UL 1973, UL 9540, UL 9540A
  • NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC
  • Applicable IFC and IBC requirements
  • IEC 61215, IEC 61646, and IEC 61730 standards

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00/hr.
