Job Summary

The job of Benefits Technician is done for the purpose/s of providing customer service and support to the delivery of all aspects of employee benefits and benefit information; resolving insurance benefit, retirement, reporting and reconciliation problems; providing information to new and current employees, providers and/or administrators; and ensuring employee proof of coverage and accurate billing. This job reports to the Benefits and HR Coordinator.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. Education: Targeted job-related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements. Certificates & Licenses: Current typing certificate at an acceptable rate of speed Must possess a valid California Driver''s License During course of employment; must be insurable at standard rates and maintain such insurability during the course of Employment. Clearances Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance TB Clearance Physical Exam Drug Screen Must complete any mandatory training assigned by the District that is generally applicable to all classified employees or employees in this classification in particular. Required Testing: Testing is required and will tentatively take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Grossmont Union High School District. Testing is by invitation only.

  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (3 letters required, written and dated within the last 12 months is preferred.)

The Grossmont Union High School District is a suburban high school district encompassing 470 square miles in the eastern portion of San Diego County. Major cities located in the District's attendance area are El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, and Santee, and the unincorporated areas of Spring Valley, Alpine, Lakeside, Dulzura, and Jamul.
There are approximately 22,000 students attending the District’s nine comprehensive high schools, two charter schools, one continuation school, alternative, and special education programs. The schools located in the Grossmont District are Grossmont, El Cajon Valley, Mount Miguel, El Capitan, Granite Hills, Monte Vista, Santana, Valhalla, and West Hills and Alternative Education Programs such as Chaparral High School, Gateway, Middle College High School and Phoenix Programs.
The Grossmont District provides a quality educational program for its students and has a reputation for excellence throughout the state. The District continues to modify and improve its instructional program to meet the needs of the students it serves. Teacher collaboration through Professional Learning Communities increased opportunities for students in career/technical programs, comprehensive intervention programs for at-risk students, and expanded community partnerships are but a few of the programs that are benefiting our students.
