General Summary:

As a Sr. Benefits Manager, you will be at the forefront of designing, administering, and evaluating Dollar General benefit programs. This role requires staying updated with industry trends, regulatory changes and maintaining strong vendor relationships. You will lead a team, collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, and serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategies, plan designs and cost containment programs to optimize value for its employees and the company. Research market trends, emerging programs/vendors, and evidence-based best practices. 
  • Vendor Management: Oversee vendor and consultant relationships, including procurement, selection, rate negotiation, contracting, and monitoring ongoing performance/ROI.
  • Financial Management: Manage the financial aspects of all benefit programs, including billing, reforecasting, and commissions tracking. 
  • Program Administration: Manages program communications, compliance, and corporate governance. Coordinates clinical integration of Health Plan support programs designed to support members’ total well-being. 
  • Initiatives Support: Support company and department initiatives, including annual enrollment, program implementation, IS testing, etc.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Experience in US benefits administration, including the governance and design of self-insured medical plans, population health management and brokered insurance arrangements.
  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, Section 125 of the IRS code and state laws.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills.
  • Excellent leadership, consulting, and presentation skills; ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals across all organizational levels.
  • Strong organization skills with ability to work independently, prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment; and lead a team to deliver quality deliverables on time.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills that demonstrates DG values, and demonstrates executive presence.
Qualifications:

Work Experience &/or Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (business or health-related field) preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant benefits experience, including strategic planning and people leadership.
  • Experience in clinical or health management preferred.
  • Benefits Certification (CEBS) preferred.
