Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Benefits Manager for our nonprofit client. This is a hybrid opportunity with in-office presence required two days per week at either the South San Francisco, Stockton, or Turlock office locations.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Manager to lead organization-wide benefits, leave administration, workers' compensation, and employee accommodation programs. This role serves as a strategic and hands-on HR leader responsible for ensuring compliance, enhancing employee experience, and supporting a diverse workforce across multiple locations. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in benefits administration, leave management, regulatory compliance, and employee support within a mission-driven environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee administration of employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and COBRA compliance
Lead leave of absence, accommodation, disability, and workers' compensation programs while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Manage relationships with benefits brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, and other external partners
Direct open enrollment planning, employee communications, and ongoing benefits education initiatives
Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws related to benefits and leave administration
Supervise and support HR team members responsible for benefits and leave administration while driving process improvements and operational excellence
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience managing employee benefits, leave administration, accommodations, and workers' compensation programs
Strong knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations including leave, disability, benefits, and compliance requirements
Experience supporting a multi-site workforce and collaborating across departments and leadership teams
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with HRIS platforms, benefits administration systems, and Microsoft Office applications
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This position offers a competitive salary of $110,000-$120,000 DOE, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, employee assistance resources, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities.
