Benefits & Leave Specialist

Location: Remote EST Time Zone (United States)

Employment Type: 6 Month Contract

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week



Role Overview

An opportunity is available for a Benefits and Leave Specialist to support day-to-day global leave of absence and benefits administration. This role serves as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, partnering with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure compliant and timely case resolution. The work allocation is approximately 70% benefits administration and 30% leave administration, with a focus on both US and non-US programs.



Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for employee leave and benefits inquiries, managing the triage of the shared inbox.
  • Administer end-to-end global leave policies and manage US and non-US leave programs, including FMLA.
  • Process leave events and manage employee data within HRIS systems, specifically Workday.
  • Conduct audits to identify discrepancies and maintain confidential employee and plan documentation in compliance with HIPAA and GDPR standards.
  • Partner with HR Partners and Legal teams on benefits and leave-related matters.
  • Handle employee phone calls to review and resolve concerns.
  • Follow documented processes and policies for all administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in benefits and leave of absence administration.


Technical Skills: Hands-on experience using HRIS systems, specifically Workday, for leave processing and data management. Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for manual audits and tracking.


Expertise: Solid understanding of US and Global benefits administration and regulatory frameworks such as LOA, FMLA, USERRA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and GDPR. Proven experience managing end-to-end leave programs.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UK and Montreal leave and benefits administration.
  • Familiarity with Spero or similar leave tracking automation systems.

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated pay range for this position is $35.00/hr to $45.00/hr. The final rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. A benefits package is available to eligible employees.
