The Benefits Assistant supports the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, leave programs, and wellness initiatives. This role assists employees with benefits-related questions, processes enrollments and changes, maintains accurate records, andensures compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and qualifying life events in HRIS and carrier systems.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding eligibility, coverage, claims, and benefit options.
  • Coordinate new hire benefit orientations and open enrollment activities.
  • Maintain accurate employee benefits records and confidential files.
  • Review and reconcile benefit invoices and assist with discrepancy resolution.
  • Support leave administration, including FMLA, disability, workers' compensation, and paid leave tracking.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues.
  • Assist with benefits communications, educational materials, and employee notices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, ERISA, and FMLA.
  • Generate reports and assist with audits related to benefits administration.
  • Support HR projects and provide general administrative assistance as needed.
Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in HR, benefits administration, or an administrative support role.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits and HR practices preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, UKG, Workday, or similar) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of benefits laws and regulations.
  • Experience processing leave of absence requests.
  • Strong data entry and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.


Compensation: $30-34/hr
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
