Basic Function
Under the direction of an administrator, perform a variety of technical, specialized, and/or complex duties to assist in the coordination and administration of the District s payroll and benefits programs, requiring comprehensive analysis and problem solving. Through work activities promote a culture of customer service and responsiveness, while ensuring that Payroll and Benefits objectives, goals, policies, rules, guidelines, and operating procedures are observed, reinforced, and maintained in support of District objectives. This position is designated as staff level.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This class is designed to function in a lead capacity to prepare incumbents for promotional opportunities into higher levels of employment. The incumbent is expected to consistently work independently with limited direction in carrying out complex tasks, in a fast-paced environment, with quickly developing variables. The incumbent must be able to troubleshoot a variety of commonly occurring problems and calmly handle suddenly developing complex problems and situations. The incumbent is also expected to make recommendations for improvement regarding day-to-day operations and procedures and departmental policy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High School Diploma (or GED equivalent). • An Associate s Degree OR two (2) years of college-level course work in Business Administration or a related field. • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible professional full-time work experience in payroll and benefits administration, preferably in a public educational setting, which shows evidence of coordinating programs and employees. At least one (1) year of experience performing specialized payroll and benefits processing, which includes using automated business systems at an intermediate level or higher. • Any other combination of education, training, and experience, which demonstrates that the applicant is likely to possess the required skills, knowledge, or abilities, may be considered.

Foreign Diploma/ Degree/Transcripts must be certified and evaluated to meet the United States equivalency to be considered. ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE CLOSING DATE.
