Description:
The Benefits and Leave Specialist oversees the administration and coordination of the District's employee benefits and leave programs to ensure accurate, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery. This position manages all aspects of employee benefits, including health, dental, disability, life insurance, retirement programs, flexible spending accounts, COBRA administration, retiree benefits, and employee leave programs. The role provides technical expertise, employee counseling, issue resolution, and regulatory compliance support related to benefit and leave administration.

Qualifications:
Education - Associate's Degree with coursework in human resources or personnel management, business administration, health care management, health insurance or a closely related field; or equivalent of 4-6 years of professional human resources work experience and Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) certification or recognized equivalent certification.
Work Experience - Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in human resources.

~General knowledge and experience in the administration of human resources programs, benefits and compensation.
~Enhanced knowledge of school district organization, functions, operations, and jobs.
~Enhanced knowledge of the operation and applications used for managing human resources records
~Enhanced knowledge of district administrative policies and procedures.
~Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and the Internet; ability to learn new computer program applications quickly.
~Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate.
~Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with others.
~Evidence of practice with a high level of confidentiality.
~Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
~Effective interviewing and investigation skills and techniques.
~Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, rules, policies, regulations, and labor contract language.
~Principles of mathematics, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using decimals, percentages and fractions; ability to solve basic algebraic equations.
~Skilled in the operation of office equipment and technology.
~Deductive Reasoning The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
