Introduction The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to serve as a Behavioral Health Therapist with the Early Intervention Services line. Job Summary This is an opportunity within the Early Intervention (EI) Services line, part of the statewide system of Early Intervention services known as the Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginia. Loudoun Early Intervention provides supports and services to children birth to thirty-six months of age and their families under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). A Behavioral Health Therapist in EI provides Assessments and Therapeutic Services as well as Case Management to families with infants and toddlers ages birth to three years with disabilities or developmental delays within childrens natural environments. In this role you will: Provide social work early intervention services using coaching and consultative models within the typical environments of young children, in keeping with Federal and State Part C regulations under IDEA. Specific duties include developmental screening and evaluation practices using appropriate tools, interpreting results of developmental assessments to families, demonstrating appropriate activities to achieve outcomes on the IFSP in conjunction with the families, and interpreting procedural safeguards and rights relative to federal and state requirements. Provide educational and therapeutic coaching to support families with infants and toddlers who have delayed or atypical social-emotional development, promote optimal function and engagement in meaningful activities, as well as support social-communication skills, play skills, and cognitive development. Provide clinical case consultation in areas, which may include, but are not limited to, family dynamics, parent-child interaction, infant and adult mental health, child behavior, child neglect and abuse/trauma, domestic violence, and crisis intervention. Complete eligibility determinations and co-treatment sessions with fellow Early Intervention providers. Provide service coordination (case management) to families. Case management includes identifying and coordinating community resources and services to enable the child and family to receive maximum benefit from early intervention services and facilitating the development and implementation of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Additional duties include coordinating with multiple therapy providers, including contractors, and scheduling meetings with families. The candidate will demonstrate understanding of overall development of children birth to thirty-six months of age, as well as Part C federal and state practices. Demonstrate active commitment to positive team dynamics and implementation of early intervention services within a coaching model, interact with families and team members in an affirmative and timely manner, and maintain all records and documentation according to federal, state and agency policies and procedures. Contribute to public awareness campaigns and other duties as assigned. Hiring salary commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications Masters degree; license eligible within one (1) year of hire or possess professional licensure through the VA Department of Health Professions Board as a: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) One (1) year of professional experience working with individuals who have a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis, which may include internship experience. Preferred Qualifications Strong Experience working with Part C of the IDEA. Experience in family-centered treatment of childhood developmental and behavioral health disorders and delays. Job Contingencies and Special Requirements The successful candidate: Must be fitted for N-95 (or similar) mask to safely provide on-site services as needed. Must be able to drive County vehicles, including minivans and 15-passenger vans. Must be eligible for certification as a Virginia Early Intervention Professional and Case Manager. Post Conditional Offer and Contingencies Must have a good driving record and a valid drivers license in Virginia or regional state of residence. Must be available to work schedule is 37.5 hours per Employment.
