Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for supporting and monitoring clients in the program and ensuring the physical environment is safe and clean. He/she will maintain close communication with clinical, nursing, and administrative staff to ensure client needs are met.

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Provides care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
  • Ensures facility cleanliness through sanitizing, dusting, and deep cleaning across all client areas (e.g., kitchen, dining room, gym).  Assists clients with activities of daily living; attends to client behavioral problems and provides assistance in crisis intervention, as needed.
  • Observes and manages urine drug testing and breathalyzer screening.
  • Facilitates house meetings in the Program Manager's absence.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client records.
  • Maintains established institutional policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. May provide liaison with clients, client families, or external facilities and agencies.

Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma, GED, or willingness to obtain GED
  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR preferred.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate's degree in mental health or addiction treatment setting preferred)
  • Training in motivational interviewing is a plus.
  • Training in trauma-informed care is a plus.
  • Recovery coach training is a plus.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of community resources.
