Job Title: Behavioral Health Nurse Manager / Supervisor

Location: New York, NY

Job Type: Direct Hire

Schedule: Day Shift – Monday through Friday

Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Guaranteed Hours: 37.5 Hours Weekly

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Manager / Supervisor to provide clinical leadership, operational oversight, and staff development within a Behavioral Health Services Department. The ideal candidate will possess strong behavioral health nursing expertise, leadership experience, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for nursing staff within the Behavioral Health Department.
  • Promote a culture of patient-centered care, safety, quality, and professional accountability.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach, and support nursing personnel to encourage professional growth and clinical excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and nursing best practices.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes and care delivery.
  • Participate in staffing, scheduling, workforce planning, and resource allocation activities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and employee development planning.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and engagement initiatives for nursing staff.
  • Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and performance enhancement projects.
  • Monitor departmental operations and implement strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate staff education, competency assessments, and ongoing training programs.
  • Address clinical and operational issues while promoting effective communication and teamwork.
  • Serve as a resource and role model for nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams.

Required Qualifications

Education

Option 1

  • Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory, leadership, or teaching experience.

OR

Option 2

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum six (6) years of nursing experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years of supervisory, leadership, or teaching experience.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License required.

Experience

  • Prior Behavioral Health nursing experience required.
  • Prior Behavioral Health supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience leading clinical teams within a healthcare setting required.
  • Experience with staff development, performance management, and quality improvement initiatives preferred.
