POSITION SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide individual and family therapy to clients; collaborate with the team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE CLINICAL SERVICES PROGRAM:

  • Provide individual, family and group therapy to clients
  • Work closely with the Program Manager and Sr. Director of BH
  • Maintain documentation per Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Division and Catholic Charities standards in the data system.
  • Work with clients dealing with trauma, behavioral and mental health issues, dual diagnosis or addictions, justice system, and adults with cognitive and other disabilities.
  • Provide appropriate community resources and consultation with the client regarding those resources to accomplish their goals.
  • Collaborate with the probation department serving justice involved adults and older adults
  • Crisis intervention and create safety plans with the client.
  • Collaborate with the case manager, schools, psychiatrist, and other agencies for additional resources.
  • Conduct intake, and assessment, create treatment plans, diagnose and document according to DSM V-TR
  • Engage clients using evidence-based practices, Trauma-Informed CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI), Harm Reduction, Thinking 4 a Change and promising practices-Seven Challenges, and other modalities to reduce trauma symptoms, co-occurring disorders, and provide coping skills to improve family functioning.
  • Respond to emails in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain a minimum caseload of 20-25 cases to manage expected productivity each month
  • Conduct outreach to generate referrals for adults and children's programs and present BH programs in the community
  • Meet with clients at a minimum of a weekly basis-in-person/telephone and telehealth
  • Must meet a minimum standard of clinical direct services for 110 total hours of productivity per month
  • Complete all progress notes within three business days of service
  • Attend all program related required trainings to facilitate client services coordination and collaboration.
  • Attend weekly individual supervision and required team meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate degree in MSW, MA, or MS in counseling, psychology, or a related field
  • Bilingual Spanish/English, Vietnamese-preferred
  • Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) registration as MFT Intern, ASW or APCC Intern or LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, licensed psychologist or psychological associate registered with the Board of Psychology (BOP).
  • Counseling experience in a community-based setting
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and training of DSM V-TR
  • Bilingual Spanish or Vietnamese preferred
  • Understanding of and sensitivity toward economic and cultural issues in diverse communities
  • Demonstrated computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Internet usage)
  • Ability to pass certification requirements for CANS or ANSA assessment 90 days of hire (training and support will be provided)
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, strength-based, and motivational interviewing skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, e.g., evening until 7:00 pm, and Saturdays.
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and organizational skills

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check via livescan fingerprint.
  • Must have a TB test performed and submit results.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance per agency policy or access to reliable transportation sufficient to perform job duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work will take place in both indoors and outdoors based on client availability.

HOURS AND OTHER CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office hours are Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • This is a full-time, exempt position. Hours based on client availability.

MANDATED REPORTER STATUS

This position requires you to work with adults and children, and your profession qualifies you as "mandated reporters" of Elder abuse or neglect. Child abuse or neglect, which is found in California Penal Code Section 11164-11174.3 and Welfare and Institution Code 15610-15610.70. In addition, you are required to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect and Elder abuse and neglect.
