Overview:

Under the supervision of an RN provides direct patient care to patients on the pediatric mental health inpatient unit.  Performs procedures for patients and provides technical services and support.  Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, improved patient care, a safe environment and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families.

Responsibilities:
  • Complete mental health assessments, safety rounds, vital signs, weights, and assigned area-specific procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide therapeutic patient support through milieu and skill-building groups, one-on-one supervision, communication, and de-escalation assistance under RN direction.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, call lights, simple procedures, specimen collection, and other care needs according to standards.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment while using a holistic approach that considers each patient’s physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, and safety needs.
  • Demonstrate reliability, initiative, teamwork, openness to feedback, and commitment to quality care, customer service, and department goals.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health related field Required.

 

Experience: Previous healthcare and behavioral healthcare experience preferred.

 

License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused.

 

Other: Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
